Job Description

Nemours is seeking a Cardiac OR Staff Nurse to join our team in Delaware.

The Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE, offers intensive and acute inpatient and outpatient services covering more than 30 pediatric specialties. Extending the world-class care of the duPont Hospital for Children, the Nemours Children's Clinic provides convenient community-based physician services and collaborative partnerships with health and hospital systems across the Delaware Valley.

A registered nurse that is responsible and accountable for assessing, planning and providing care to the operating room patient. Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of the Nemours Foundation.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assesses and documents initial and ongoing patient needs and problems
2. Formulates nursing plan based on patient needs and surgical intervention planned
3. Responds promptly and positively to patients and associates, respects confidentiality of patients and co-workers
4. Provides a clean, quiet and secure operating room
5. Follows cost control practices. Monitors usage of supplies and equipment to eliminate waste
6. Demonstrates sterile technique and has excellent working knowledge of instrumentation and operating room equipment
7. Understands congenital heart disease malformations and cardiac surgical interventions
8. Demonstrates proficiency in the surgical care of all age groups; neonates, infants, toddlers, school aged, adolescents and adults.

I. Education, Training and Experience:

1.  Operating Room experience, perferrably in Cardiac and or Pediatrics
2. Must be a strong scrubbing and circulating OR nurse

II. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

1. Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Delaware
