This position will play a significant role in the migration from Oracle 9i to Oracle 11g, assist support of current production applications and testing and tuning of applications during the migration project. This is a 24X7X365 environment and requires the ability to work overtime and night/weekend shift coverage on occasion to meet project schedules.  Position will work as a DBA (85%) and developer (15%).

Position Responsibilities:

Responsible for environment, analysis and design documentation, configuration of test and production environment, performance tuning and testing for migration project; data import/export of production data, script development and back up procedures; production database management and administration services for current client teams on an as needed basis and production system administration activities such as creating user accounts, concurrent executables/ programs, creating functions/menus and responsibilities.  Perform oracle installations, database patches, capacity management, backup, recovery and performance tuning. Provide technical leadership for the availability, performance, and functionality of key components and systems. Failure in any of these areas could result in significant business disruption or the ability of the company to meet its goals. Recommendations made by this position may result in expenditures accounting for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field  and a minimum of nine (9) years IT experience with at least three (3) of the past five (5) years in a production DBA environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience in computer or telecommunications architectures, systems analysis, and management of information technology. Required competencies: effective customer service, oral and written communications skills; ability to be proactive and resourceful in managing multiple priorities in a dynamic and fluid client focused organization with a commitment to quality. 

Specialized knowledge and skills in the following architectures, technologies, and tools:

o        Enterprise Manager 10g/11g– ( Database Control & Grid Control )

o        Database utilities (Dbca, Netca, Srvctl, lsnrctl, Crsctl, Srvctl, etc.)

o        Real Application Clusters, Oracle Clusterware, ASM

o        Unix & Linux scripting ( SH, CSH, TCSH )

o        Familiarity with the SYS dynamic v$ views, static DBA and user views.

o        SQLPlus

o        Sqlldr  - Familiar with command line and parameter file commands.

o        Export/Import/ExportDP/ImportDP – Familiar with commands .
