Job Description:



  • Will plan and facilitate treatment programs for individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and provide therapeutic intervention to meet functional goals within their daily living and work environments.

  • Evaluations may include occupational history; patterns of daily living, interest, values and needs; motor and process skills and communication/interaction skills using Telehealth systems when possible.

  • Problems and concerns specific to performing occupations and daily life activities will be identified with treatment priorities and targeted outcomes indentified.

  • Uses standardized tests, customized measures and clinical observations to assess the areas of cognitive/perceptual-motor skills, psycho-social skills, self-care, work, home, and leisure performance skills, sensory-integrative skills, and motor functioning skills to include: coordination, strength, range of motion, and endurance.

  • Assessments for adaptive devices and upper extremity orthotics are also performed.

  • Administers tests such as the Jebsen-Taylor Hand Function test, Purdue Pegboard, Minnesota Rate of Manipulation, Allen Cognitive Level, Bay Area Functional Performance Evaluation, Kohlman Evaluation of Living Skills, Functional Independence Measure, Interest Check List, LOTTCA and others as appropriate.

  • Must also be able to assess physical performance through the use of the goniometer, dynamometer, pinch gauge, two-point discriminator, manual muscle tests and others as appropriate.
    Interprets all test results to assess the nature and degree of deficits and outlines appropriate treatment plan, goals and objectives.

  • Discusses the results with the patient and appropriate family providers as well as occupational therapy staff and other health care providers.

 


 


Requirements:



  • Must be a graduate of an occupational therapy program (Masters or higher) accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education.  Completion of a clinical internship of not less than 6-months duration is required.

  • Must have and maintain certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.

  • Must possess and maintain a current, active, valid, unrestricted occupational therapy license in a US State, Commonwealth, District of Columbia, territory or jurisdiction.

  • Should have at least three years experience.
