Operations Manager

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Operations: - Manage all operational transportation related activities in a safe, productive, cost effective and efficient manner to meet the customer service delivery requirements, manage labor relations, and cargo cuts and all Line requirements.
  • Planning & Organizing: - Forecast labor and equipment needs to meet customer demand and ultimately taken cost into consideration. Planning and managing workload effectively to utilize fixed labor for maximize output. Work with maintenance supervisor to manage dead line inventory (tractor and equipment).
  • Results Orientation: - Sets high standards and aggressively pursues goals. Implements and documents corrective actions plans to meet objectives
  • Thorough understanding of maintenance systems, procedures, policies and accruals.

Responsibilities
  • Manages yard, warehouse and Sealogix trucking operational activities.
  • Proactively achieves goals that are congruent with corporate objectives.
  • Partners with internal associates to accomplish on-time service and corrective action follow-up.
  • Leads post-operational reviews; resulting in improved communications, processes and procedures.
  • Coaches, motivates and mentors front line supervisors in developing valued skills and behaviors; set goals and objectives with associates and evaluate their performance.
  • Focuses on skill building and development of front line supervisors.
  • Provides constructive reviews and feedback on performance.
  • Identifies and develops fast-track high performance individuals.
  • Leads by example
  • Implementing of operating procedures, cost effective processes, identifies and anticipates bottlenecks and creates solutions and implements contingency plans to correct.
  • Management of all areas of cargo flow and vessel operations to achieve on time arrivals, maximization of vessel capacity, profit and loss responsibility; and customer service.
  • Communicate directly with APMT terminal operations, Legal and Risk Management, Corporate Finance and Logistics groups
  • Maintain equipment inventory in compliance with APMT contract and Equipment Velocity set by Fleet Admin.
  • Coordinates/communicates with Commercial group, provide Logistics support, evaluate opportunities, and make business/cost recommendations.
  • Root Causes: Identify Root Cause, implement Action Plans to Prevent Reoccurrence, Hold Associates Accountable.
  • Expenses, monitor via Weekly Scorecard and Flash Report, aggressively manager high cost areas, focus on Smart Spending, challenge associates to operate more efficiently, take corrective action on cost over-runs, and always Question, Question and Question.
  • Ensure Continuity Files are in place.
  • Ensure SOP’s are up to date and reviewed quarterly for changes.
