Under the guidance of the President, this position is responsible for the overall operation of the plant, including its production, quality, direct and period costs, safety, maintenance, labor relations, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.

Position Duties and Responsibilities


 



  • Recommends and implements overall manufacturing strategies consistent with business objectives.

 



  • Works with plant operational teams to establish focus areas for the plant and to set expectations for Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s); is responsible for ensuring that there are plans in place to meet those goals. Also, establishes measurable goals / objectives that support the overall manufacturing strategy and performance measures for each department.

  



  • Responsible for driving Management Operating System in the Plant. This includes communication, reporting, barrier identification/resolution, and accountability at all levels.

 



  • Leads cultural change efforts and continuous improvement practices to drive and improve the competitiveness of plant operations. This includes leading problem-solving efforts.

 



  • Accountable for overall OSHA, EEOC and environmental compliance of the Plant.

 



  • Communicates business updates, organizational direction and other pertinent information to the Executive Team.

 



  • As site manager, establishes and maintains favorable company/community relationship.

 



  • Demonstrates good people skills and able to work closely with and lead all levels of the organization to achieve business objectives. Able to interact professionally and competently with external customers. Helps to enable cooperation among and between employee groups and departments. Exhibits effective overall leadership to the organization.

 



  • Assumes a lead role in driving safety performance in the facility. Works with team members to ensure necessary actions are taken to avoid preventable incident and occurrences.

  • Responsible for managing union management relationships including holding union management meetings, managing grievances, and has a leadership role in contract negotiations.

  • Defines and implements organizational structures, training, and policies at the plant that are required to meet the needs of the business and employees. Assures that trained and capable personnel are in place to operate the facility.

 



  • Builds upon existing customer/manufacturing relationships and ensures acceptable product quality.

 



  • Accountable for the overall TS compliance/certification of the Plant.

 



  • Capable of understanding process flows, technical production operations and equipment, process capabilities and product quality requirements.

 



  • Responsible for scheduling process improvement initiatives.

 



  • Manages the maintenance, manufacturing and quality position within the Plant.

 



  • Oversees logistics (planning/scheduling), purchasing, estimating and customer service.

 



  • Works to promote good employee relations through frequent employee interaction; works with supervisors and other salary employees to address problems or complaints.

 



  • Utilizes salary personnel to ensure plant and equipment maintenance meets expectations, and that plant practices and products meet customer standards.

Position Educational Requirements


 



  • A BS, preferably in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 8 years manufacturing or technical project, plant or operational management experience, preferably in the paper or other continuous process industry. Previous management of plant P&L and labor relations in union plant environment required.

 


Interface Sealing Solutions in Marshalltown, Iowa is a supplier of fabric gaskets, metal stampings and sub assemblies to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), the small engine market and the auto industry.  There are 68 employees in the Marshalltown facility and a sister facility in upstate New York with 35 employees.  If the successful candidate can demonstrate success in this manufacturing environment, additional duties and responsibilities may be assumed.
