Position Description

Logistics, Distribution & Transportation Sr. Analyst

Style Crest, a building products company headquartered in Fremont, Ohio, has an excellent career opportunity available for a Logistics, Distribution & Transportation Senior Analyst who will effectively provide analytical support to help identify, develop, organize, and coordinate key projects and programs that facilitate improvement within the Distribution, Warehousing, and Transportation functions that will have the greatest impact on process improvement and cost.  This role works under the guidance and strategic direction of the Director of Operations and with cross functional teams (internal/external) to drive improvements in business performance using Lean and Industry recognized "Best Practice" principles, tools and methodologies, to both define, coordinate and enable the company to build and drive the best solutions for the future.

The key areas of responsibility include (but are not limited to) the following:


  • Analyzes, develops, and coordinates specific Distribution, Warehousing and Transportation programs, projects and initiatives that may be assigned that have high complexity and value impact in support of customers; financial results; corporate strategies; international business; operating systems; operating equipment; network, locations and organizational requirements from concept to implementation with required metrics. 
  • Supports company strategies which contribute to financial and operational success by developing and implementing of continuous improvement initiatives under a project management approach to include fully documented SOP’s, proper tools, knowledge, best practices and “hands on” practical experience. 
  • Identifies areas of opportunity to apply knowledge and application of Lean and 5S to assist Director and if required, lead Lean / 5S training and implementation (methodology/ tools/application areas)  through training sessions and process improvement projects with field locations.
  • Evaluates and proposes potential opportunities to modify/optimize distribution design and network. Works with Director, Field Management, Sales, and Purchasing, on cross functional teams, to identify, collect, analyze data and map detail and processes to present clear, concise conclusions identifying improvement opportunities in warehouse and distribution network operations.  
  • Thru detailed analysis of available data, evaluates, identifies and proposes Company Route Truck Delivery Service and Optimization opportunities as may be required by changes, as well as on an annual basis, to modify/optimize Route Truck Delivery areas/network. Helps identify optimization tools and routing software for both “what if” as well as daily actual routing requirements. Identifies improvement opportunities and works with field personnel to achieve continuous improvement. Helps Analyze private fleet requirements and future sourcing needs / opportunities.
  • Analyzes, develops, implements and oversees changes to our Outside Carrier Transportation Program and Management strategy by identifying opportunities for cost, capacity, process and service improvement. Oversee capacity development, carrier resourcing and relations, carrier selection, freight rate cost, service monitoring, freight claims management and respective freight data management. 
  • Works with field management, establishes SOP’s for transportation management. Works with carriers and field on providing proper equipment, capacity and service for order fulfillment. Working with Accounting, develops freight audit and payables resourcing and processes.  Assists in further development of transportation freight metrics for continuous improvement and meeting company’s financial goals and requirements.
  • Participates in and/or helps direct Group initiatives such as WMS and TMS, by partnering with internal/external customers, teams,  as may be required and assigned, to improve systems and processes, participate in assigned process expert functions and meetings, and help recognize, create and initiate enhancements.
  • Assists Director of Operations in the development and implementation of business improvement metrics, documented SOPs, operating standards for functional areas, cost and service monitoring and program result measurement.
  • Assists Director of Operations in development of functional and departmental Operating Budgets to ensure compliance with organizational expenditure programs and requirements.
  • Working with Director, HR, Safety and Field Management to ensure Compliance with local, state and federal warehousing, storage and transport regulations, customs and international transportation regulations.


Qualified candidates must posses the following experience, knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Distribution, Transportation, Logistics or Project Management is required.  Advanced degree and/or certifications preferred in a relevant field and/or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of Ten (10) years experience in logistics and distribution management with at least three (3) of those years in Project Management or project support roles.
  • International operations knowledge and experience is required.
  • Transportation, Distribution, Warehousing and Supply Chain operations, processes, systems and data with demonstrated ability to apply functional and system expertise to business requirements is mandatory.
  • Experience in designing, optimizing and implementing local and regional LTL customer distribution delivery via right sized and equipped Private Fleet including relevant experience in route mapping software.
  • Thorough knowledge, working application, and compliance of DOT, HOS, CSA and other relevant government rules. Electronic HOS Driver/Route management systems experience/data utilization a plus.
  • Working experience in an AS400 systems environment with practical experience in data warehouse (BI), WMS, TMS and systems integrations.  Recent WMS and TMS integration preferred.
  • Proven Technical skills in process improvement, freight, distribution, warehousing and fleet management.
  • Strong working knowledge and use (expert) of MS Projects, MapPoint, Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and AS400 system.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people skills in the ability to lead projects, programs and people to influence and secure results, especially thru others.
  • Ability to work as part of a High Performance Team as well as contribute as a strong Team player on cross functional teams as required.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills to all external/internal customers, peer groups and upper management.
  • Available for approximately 50% travel which can consist of back to back weeks at a time.
  • Adaptable to business demands with demonstrated problem solving ability.
  • Proven experience leading and supporting Lean Initiatives Projects using 5S and Lean tools; ability to develop training materials and teach others.
  • Ability to control costs by managing multiple projects/people in a dynamically changing environment.
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level with the ability to gather and represent appropriate detail and analyze information to develop and implement effective strategies.
  • Experience documenting processes, writing Lean SOP’s and communicating change.
