POSITION TITLE: Ophthalmic Technician Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Clinic

GENERAL SUMMARY: The successful Technician Supervisor will facilitate the accomplishment of the Eye Center’s mission statement through continual development and implementation of quality eye care by employing efficient and effective allocation of clinic resources while maintaining harmony among the team of technicians through a variety of means, which are monitored and communicated to the administrator and/or the HR Manager.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. Ability to raise arms above shoulders without pain or restriction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coverage for patient care as necessary.
- Ensure quality patient flow through the clinic area
- Development and maintenance of clinical refractive and lab templates
- Oversee quality assurance of clinical templates
- Daily management of Clinic staff schedules to provide the best possible technical coverage on any given day
- Facilitate staff education and training of all clinic and Refractive issues
- All clinical sub-specialties including Refractive surgery
- Coordinate technician skill reviews, maintenance of skill levels, and development of skills
- All clinical sub-specialties including Refractive surgery
- Perform annual employee reviews in coordination with the Doctors
- Support technician communication with the Doctors, the Administrator and the HR Manager
- First-line conflict resolution
- Weekly development of Clinic technician schedules in cooperation with other departments with which staff is shared.
- Oversee management and quality assurance of physical clinic area
- Facilitate coordination of the technician participation in office-wide compliance programs including Coding, HIPAA & OSHA
- Provide communication avenues to the technicians from all other departments, i.e. Tech meetings, etc.
- Scheduling support for non-clinic functions as requested i.e. health fairs, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION: HS Diploma or Equivalent. Minimum of COA, COT preferred. Coursework in management/supervision preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Strong technical / clinical experience. Demonstrated leadership skills. Demonstrated conflict resolution skills. Strong communication skills. Demonstrated ability to brainstorm and problem solve.
