Duties and Responsibilities: We are collecting applications for the following Co-op opportunities:
Computer Engineering - Customer Operations
Computer engineering co-op positions provide students with an opportunity to be involved in various IT projects, provide application support and development, and complete various regulatory compliance activities. Students will perform research and verification tasks, participate in operational support roles and assist with the development of scripts or applications to automate compliance activities and other functions.
Mechanical/Civil Engineering - Gas Operations
Natural gas co-op positions provide students with an opportunity to develop skills in engineering fundamentals related to the gas industry and overall project management. Students will provide support and construction oversight of natural gas regulation facilities, including piping design, natural gas piping construction and the construction of associated structures to house the natural gas facilities. Students also will identify and implement process improvements associated with the company's regulated survey activities.
Electrical Engineering - Electric Operations
Electrical student co-op positions support various tasks associated with the overall planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of the electric distribution system. Students will be assigned a variety of work in Area Field Engineering including distribution-system planning, design, construction, equipment application, equipment maintenance, voltage regulation and power quality issues. Assignment to Substation Engineering will include substation design, equipment specification, equipment maintenance, project licensing and project management.

Wholesale Energy and Fuels
Duties: Assisting with developing tools and procedures, performing data analysis to assess operational performance, and providing additional support as needed.
IT Application Support
Duties: Programming to automate tasks, testing software enhancements/upgrades prior to production releases, assisting in client communications, application portfolio administrative work and documentation. Opportunity to work on a team supporting the business of IT applications, interact with our IT clients and team members doing project management, business analysis, technical support and/or application development work.
IT Security
Duties: Assisting with lifecycle of remote access authentication tokens and security project support duties including planning, designing and installation of various security initiatives, such as antivirus upgrade, intrusion detection system, identity and access management, and network access control, as well as assisting with security audit compliance activities.
Application Maintenance and Support
Duties: Updating data, preparing reports and scorecards, programming to automate repetitive work group tasks, testing software enhancements/upgrades prior to production releases, and assisting with client communications.
Desktop Lifecycle Replacement
Duties: Assisting with project planning, scheduling, deployment, client support, and asset inventory reconciliation. Some travel to various company sites in southeast Wisconsin will be required.
Server and Storage Operational Support
Duties: Assisting with design, implementation and support for We Energies application and database server environments. Opportunity to work in an enterprise datacenter supporting Windows, UNIX and Linux operating systems and hardware, SAN and NAS storage and server virtualization technologies.
Telecom Operations
Duties: Assisting technicians with planning, designing, installing, troubleshooting, and monitoring of We Energies data, voice, and private radio networks. Opportunity to learn MPLS; DWDM; IP Telephony; microwave; mobile voice; mobile data; multi-address radio systems; and backup power systems.
Education and Experience Requirements: Our Co-Op Program considers students who are willing to complete at least two, non-consecutive work assignments. In addition, you must be a full-time student enrolled in a four year college or university, with a minimum 2.8 overall GPA; or for master's students, a minimum 3.2 overall GPA.
IT student positions are available to full-time students enrolled in a four year college or university.
