DEPARTMENT: Technology
POSITION TITLE: Technologist
REPORTS TO: Director of Technology
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday- Friday (Some weekend work may be required)
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for development of thin film systems used in electrochromic devices. This includes understanding product requirements, defining a strategic approach to achieve the defined goals, and applying proven scientific practices (eg. DOE) to guide the development efforts. Experience in electrochromic or thin film battery design and modeling is preferred. This is a project or team leadership position so the ability to multitask, prioritize activities, and make data based decisions is essential.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Project management. Defining a strategic plan and establishing a timeline for achieving project goals. Generating and executing test plans. Characterizing deposited films and electrochromic devices (film stack) for key performance metrics. Analyzing and presenting results to team. Highlighting risks and providing mitigation strategies.
Electrochemistry: Ability to setup experiments and analyze data from electrochemical experiments. Good understanding of the fundamentals/basic science of the electrochemical properties in thin film materials. Design and execute experiments to optimize the electrochemical properties
Device modeling: Development and validation of a basic electrochromic/thin film battery model. Continual refinement of the model based on experimental data.
Problem solving: Applying a systematic and methodical approach to identify the root cause of a problem. Ability to construct fishbone diagrams and design the appropriate partitioning experiments. Implement practical solutions which can lead towards rapid product realization.
Collaborate with other internal scientists and engineers as well as external academic and industrial organizations as necessary.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
