Studies show that today’s Oracle admins need to be multi-faceted, a mix of a project manager, database administrator, back-up and high-availability pro, a bit of a system administrator, and the  of pinch of a coder/scripter. Why? Well, some of the finicky set-ups of Oracle have been improved and streamlined by the product itself AND perhaps of much greater importance, this mix of skills provides the best overall ability to support complex environments AND it allows for a close integration with others in the operations and software development teams. Yes, it’s a lot to ask but for those who have embarked on this more “mixed skills” approach Warner Bros has an excellent opportunity for you.

Warner Bros. Technical Operations group would love to talk to savvy Oracle admins who not only can switch hats, but truly believe that wearing these different hats makes you a better Oracle DBA (and a better dresser). We’re very interested in speaking with Oracle admins who have experience in the installation and support of Oracle, Oracle RAC, and Data Guard. Ideally, we’d love you to love Linux ;) If you felt comfortable slinging a little code for automation purposes or for quick generation of reports then that’s all the better.

Are you the ideal candidate? Consider these questions…

• Do you like being a multi-skilled, multi-faceted Oracle database administrator working with super smart teammates in an ops team with mixed admin, networking, and DBA skill sets?

• Have you installed and supported Oracle RAC and groc how it all works?

• Have you installed and supported Data Guard and have a really good understanding of the intricacies of standbys and their use in concert with RAC?

• Do you like LINUX!!!

• Assuming you answered “yes” to liking Linux, how geeky can you get? Can you pound out some shell scripts if needed? OK, this isn’t a requirement but it tells us a bit about just how far you like to spread your wings.
