OUTSIDE PLANT ENGINEER
Newport News, VA

The Outside Plant Engineer will interact with co-workers, DOIM, DPW employees, vendors, the Telephone Operations Division Chief and his/her appointed representatives to obtain and disseminate information, advise on projects, coordinate activities, complete projects within time and budget constraints, and provide assistance. The Outside Plant Engineer will have the ability to analyze information and draw valid conclusions, develop and maintain interpersonal relations, research and conduct studies to identify the most appropriate course of action, perform mathematical procedures including algebra, calculus, and logarithms, read and understand written technical materials, perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy, learn new techniques and apply them to work assignments, and manage human and material resources.

Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 6 years experience in studying, designing, engineering, constructing, installing, surveying and performing quality control of telecommunications equipment, systems, and facilities. A minimum of 2 years of this experience must include performing engineering studies involving equipment, applications, or theoretical analyses. We prefer experience with I3MP practices.
