To provide support to attorneys in all daily aspects of their legal duties. Performs a variety of complex law-related tasks under the direction of TCF?s attorneys. Conducts more involved legal research, drafts legal documents and other related duties. Assists attorneys in preparing and filing court papers and executing other routine tasks. May represent attorney in executing simple legal matters.
II) Major Areas of Accountability
Maintain a forms-library of standard documents, policies and procedures, tailored to TCF?s policies and procedures.
Coordinate, maintain and update project calendar for responsible area tasks with tickler file of upcoming Deadlines and high priority list to maintain awareness of top priority projects.
Research, summarize and report on case law, regulations and legislation relating to specific issues effecting the activities of responsible area by use of the Internet and other sources.
Answers questions from branch personnel, management and consumers.
Advises departments regarding the impact of their decisions on regulatory requirements.
Monitors changes in laws and regulations making sure to notify appropriate attorney(s).
Conduct special research projects as assigned.
Coordinate information relating to OCC Examinations, attorney file reviews, and to periodically perform examinations on various issues.
III) Minimum Qualifications
Education Required:
Formal paralegal training
Advanced working knowledge of and proficiency with various software applications including MS Word, Excel, Westlaw, Lexis, Access, and Power Point
Work Experience
Required:
Five or more years experience in research.
Self-starter with the ability to work well independently and as a team player or team leader.
Strong written and oral communications skills, with the ability to deal professionally with executive management, managers, vendors, and co-workers in a broad range of situations.
Advanced organizational skills, with ability coordinate, prioritize and complete projects within established timelines.
Must have ability to effectively implement policies and procedures, to exercise judgement and tact to achieve cooperation, and to exercise creativity in developing polices and procedures.
Must have ability to deal with complex situations and personalities in an objective manner, and to establish priorities and assign, direct and coordinate workflow.
Must demonstrate discretion with highly confidential information and documents.
