Position Summary

Provide analysis and counsel on legal, policy, and regulatory issues related to the healthcare/PBM industry. Anticipate, counsel and mitigate legal risks facing the company. Develop and recommend company policy and position on legal issues.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities

PBM pharmacy network contracting including complex pricing and regulatory analysis
Review vendor, client, and other contracts for legal sufficiency.
Write, review, and edit reports, opinions, correspondence, articles, and other documents.
Assist management on all corporate, legal and regulatory matters as assigned.
Develop and recommend company policy and position on legal issues.
Conduct and coordinate research into a variety of legal issues.
Handle long-term and/or complex legal projects with significant financial or other business impact.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Experience

6-10 years of applicable law practice experience in healthcare, preferably in the pharmacy benefit management area.

Education
Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school.


Special Skills & Certificates

Possess a Law Degree with admission to the California State Bar.
PBM pharmacy network experience
Medicare Part D PBM contracting experience (highly desirable)
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and safeguard private information.
Ability to write business legal reports and correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information to senior management.
Ability to respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies, customers and business community.
Possess strong business and financial acumen as well as excellent analytical and writing skills.
Have extensive knowledge of federal, state and local laws related to the PBM industry.
Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to analyze case law and provide recommendations.
Possess a high level of ethics and integrity.
Possess general PC computer experience including MS Office.
Experience with electronic legal research tools.
Experience with contract law.
Experience resolving conflict between groups with opposing perspectives, agendas, or priorities.
Experience in contracting with government agencies.
Ability to draft and negotiate complex multi-party agreements
Ability to advise on complex regulatory and legal issues
Possess a thorough understanding of legal issues affecting the PBM industry and how they relate to MedImpact's business practices.
