PC Specialist / Help Desk

About the Job

Baltimore Aircoil Company is the industry leading manufacturer of heat transfer equipment.  We are a 100% employee-owned global organization headquartered near Columbia, Maryland.  We are in search of a PC Specialist to work well as part of a motivated team to achieve corporate objectives.  The scope of this position encompasses installation, configuration and support of PC, laptops, assist with Network & Systems Operations. 


The  technical infrastructure is composed of desktop workstations (personal computers), laptops, docking stations, Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), cell phones, running Windows XP, wide area network (WAN), VPN, local area networks (LANs) and associated file and print servers running Microsoft Windows 2008 Server, HP servers running Oracle databases, and administration of Gmail email.  This infrastructure supports approximately 400 employees that are deployed nationwide.


  


Support includes but not limited to:



  • Providing support to 400+ users.

  • Managing Serena Mashups incidents, ensuring sufficient information is provided, investigating and resolving PC software/hardware issues, assigning ERP incidents to Development staff, escalating issues if needed, updating and closing tickets promptly with minimum downtime.

  • Supporting workstations and laptops and their operating systems and applications: Windows XP, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, MS Outlook, administration of Gmail.

  • Installing, configuring and supporting special software development applications.

  • Providing end-user cell phone support.

  • Management of nightly backups and restores.

  • Providing informal training on applications, including Microsoft Office, virtual private network and Gmail.

  • Relocating computer equipment, peripherals.

  • Preparing User Manuals and software installation instructions for use by the end users and Technical Support personnel.

 


Successful candidate should:



  • Under general supervision, provide support to end-users for either PC, or server hardware.

  • Handle all non ERP support issues.

  • Work with operations staff and application developers.

  • Recommend systems modifications to reduce user problems.

  • Maintains currency and high level of technical skill in field of expertise.

  • Must have great organization skills

  • Must have good written and oral communication
