Our client in Franklin Park, IL has an immediate full-time permanent opportunity for a PHP Programmer/Data Specialist.
The Programming and Data Specialist will work to support enterprise level web applications built on a PHP codebase; works with designers and developers to create consistent functionality; tests usability; works under general supervision; performs additional duties as assigned. This is junior position with potential for growth into a more senior role in the area of web application development.
Responsibilities
· Support custom features for web-based applications based on wireframes and functional documents detailing functionality of applications
· Create recommendations for improving user experience
· Assists in the development of test scenarios and associated documentation
Requirements
· BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent
· Strong knowledge of Object Oriented Programming methodologies
· Strong knowledge of:
o PHP
o XML
o DHTML
o JavaScript
o CSS
o AJAX/DOM Scripting
· Experience with SQL and database optimization
· Knowledge of Ruby on Rails a plus
· Familiarity with concepts of web-based software applications
· Familiarity with distributed application development
· Exposure to Agile programming methodology
· Exposure to test procedure development, maintenance, and execution
· Exposure to writing functional and unit tests
· Ability to interpret requirements and translate them into functional elements
· Ability to write clear, concise and effective documentation
· Strong interpersonal presentation and communication skills
