Position Description:

The Credentialing Specialist 1 is responsible for processing provider applications and re-applications for participation in accordance with required organizations’ and Viant policies, practices, and procedures.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Track, maintain, and review pending credentialing information for all practitioners applying to participate in, or already participating in, a Viant network; verify questionable information and direct the applications appropriately through the remainder of the credentialing process.
2. Review re-credentialing applications completed by an outside vendor for accuracy as well as for questionable clinical, quality, and business issues.
3. Initiate verification or re-verification of practitioners’ credentials and ensure that all credentials remain current.
4. Update and maintain practitioner information in credentialing database.
5. Demonstrate commitment to Viant core values.

JOB SCOPE:
The Credentialing Specialist 1 impacts revenues and operations to the extent of performing duties correctly and in a timely manner. An incumbent works under general supervision and uses established guidelines and knowledge gained through experience to complete job responsibilities.


Qualifications:

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent (i.e. GED)
• Minimum 1 year experience in clerical work
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to use software, hardware, and peripherals related to job responsibilities, including MS Office
• Knowledge of credentialing process and organizations such as Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC), Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)
• Knowledge of PPO networks and workers’ compensation preferred
• Communication and interpersonal skills
