KMC Systems is a cutting edge design services company focused on solving complex engineering problems for medical OEMs and start-up companies using multidisciplinary expertise, collaborative teams, and proven processes. We have contract designed a broad range of medical devices and instruments ranging from clinical chemistry and immunoassay analyzers to minimally invasive biopsy systems and urine aliquotors. We currently have an opening for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our rapidly growing team. The successful applicant will work within the engineering department leading in the design and development of complex mechanical systems and be part of a focused team creating and supporting new products.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical leadership over complex, major design, development and research projects.
2. Develop design and products performance specification requirements.
3. Evaluate and select optimum design alternatives.
4. Determine design feasibility and assures that product designs are competitive.
5. Lead or conduct analysis and experiments to evaluate designs or processes.
6. Translate analysis and experimental results into design criteria.
7. Conduct and review advanced computer simulations to design or test products.
8. Prepare cost estimates on proposed major design products.
9. Provide technical presentation support and consultation to marketing.
10. Represent company unit in customer or field force contacts.
11. Recommend the addition, expansion or termination of research projects and assure the technical soundness of engineering programs.
12. Produce innovative technical solutions to customers.
13. Prepare technical proposals for competitive bids.
14. Develop potential applications to exploit new business opportunities.
15. Collect and analyze information on competitor product performance.
16. Utilize project planning and monitoring methods to ensure timely completion.
17. Originate and communicate concepts which could lead to new products.
18. Review and approve completed design work.
19. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred) or an equivalent scientific discipline with at least, and 12 or more years applicable progressively complex mechanical engineering experience, to be proficient in the above areas. Incumbents should possess knowledge of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes for one or more areas of technical expertise, and possess creativity and originality sufficient to contribute new inventions, designs or techniques which are of material significance in the solution of important problems.
