PRODUCTION WELL OPTIMIZATION ENGINEER - For an expanding, fully integrated oil and gas company to be based in Madrid, Spain (Postal Code 28042) with production operations in Algeria and Colombia, and exploration activities in Egypt and Peru.  Start ASAP - projected to be a long term assignment.  (Reporting to the Production Manager)

As part of our plans for continuing expansion, we seek a Production Optimization Engineer who will validate production operations through implementation of Company standards and technology by initiating, proposing and performing the necessary work and studies with an emphasis on the appropriate technology to be applied in each case.  Responsible for optimizing the production operations engineering and implementing the actions which will lead to the increase in value of production fields by identifying the remaining development potential and defining the fields’ assessment for both Operated and non-Operated activities.

Primary Responsibilities Include: 

• Define, plan and manage production studies (as required by the E&P program) to the highest industry standards thereby ensuring consistency with other subsurface disciplines such as Reservoir Engineering and Drilling


• Prepare and validate testing, monitoring, workover and well data acquisition programmes through the involvement of Supervisors on site


• Prepare, negotiate and evaluate invitations to tender in order to optimize the operations work to be done


• Ensure that the latest production technology is implemented in all studies


• Analyze and contribute to the definition of the production systems to be used in fields worldwide


• Validate data used as input in interpretation studies and models


• Includes accommodations in Spain, mobilization, demobilization, travel expenses and time off compensation as well as benefits package

 Required Skills/Experience:

·         Fluency in Spanish for assignment in Madrid, Spain

·         Good knowledge of related Geoscience disciplines

·         Production Engineering degree    

·         At least 10 years experience in oil and gas production in different global locations

·         Excellent knowledge of production software and models

·         Good knowledge of techniques and tools for testing, monitoring, workovers, etc.
