PROJECT START-UP

About the Job

The Start-up Technician performs start-up and functionality checking on newly installed REFRIGERATION,, electrical components, equipment and systems. The candidate will complete all required documentation, route it to the appropriate manager/supervisor, and interface with customers/clients, internal managers and vendors. The Start-up Technician will also coordinate, checkout, release and perform the start‐up of systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures proper storage of equipment waiting for installation and compliance with special storage requirements.
  • Interprets drawings, identify errors and/or omissions, take/make corrections as needed.
  • Makes sure all components and systems are installed per applicable city and trade code.
  • Ensures newly installed equipment is level and aligned.
  • Checks newly installed equipment for operation I/A/W engineering or factory specifications.
  • Checks out the interface between controls and connected equipment for functionality.
  • Maintains continuous status report on work completed. Report, document and follow‐up on all deficiencies found; insure corrective action is taken.
  • Forwards all startup forms and documentation to appropriate manager or supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE TO BE CONSIDERED AND REFLECTED WITHIN YOUR RESUME

Experienced with parallel Racks and Protocol Racks..

Familiarity with the following types of compressors: Scroll compressors, Hermetic compressor, screw compressors....

Familiarity, certification and experiences with controls such as Novar-Opus, Danfoss, CPC-Computer Process Controls, Altech- XPRT1 - XPRT5, Microthermo....

Additional Supermarket system components and functions: Brazing copper pipe up to 5", Installing Uni-strut pipe supports, set refrigeration equipment such racks and refrigerated cases and installing armaflex insulation.....

  • Proficiency and competence to effectively diagnose, repair, install and maintain larger sized commercial HVAC, REFRIGERATION, electrical and/or plumbing systems and/or equipment.
  • Five (5) – Ten (10) years mechanical, plumbing and/or electrical system/equipment work experience.
  • Stable work history showing responsibility and professional growth.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; diploma from a recognized trade or technical school or equivalent comprised of 5-10 years experience and training.
  • Maintains on-going required continued education, professional licenses and/or certifications as required by the position.
  • Diagnostic ability as demonstrated through prior experience and/or training.
  • Meets requirements of company vehicle driving policy.
  • Ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle as evidenced by past driving performance record and to adhere to all company safety requirements.
  • Good math, verbal, written skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Ability to work skillfully with both hands constantly; independently lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds routinely, 50 pounds frequently and 80 pounds occasionally; climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffold; kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, twist, finger, grasp and feel on a constant and repetitive basis; stand, walk, talk, see (20/50 vision naturally or corrected), hear within normal range and perform repetitive motion activities

Ability to work in extreme environmental conditions including excessive heat and cold, noise, vibrations, dust, fumes, oils, adhere to all company safety requirements.

Ability to physically negotiate the hazards of a new construction worksite, e.g., uneven surfaces, floor openings, heights, construction debris, poor lighting.

Ability to constantly work the schedule required by job demands
