About Our Facility
Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospital of York is an Inpatient facility with 67 beds and several outpatient centers located 50 miles north of Baltimore, MD, 25 miles south of the state capital in Harrisburg, PA, situated between historic Gettysburg on the West and Lancaster on the East.

Job Description
The Unit Secretary supports the functions of the nursing unit by performing primarily clerical duties. The position fields a variety of questions for patient families, physicians, staff, and others who approach the nursing station. The Unit Secretary coordinates activities at the nurse's station to provide a patient care environment that promotes healing.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
License or Certification:
* None
Total Education, Vocational Training and Experience:
* One year experience in an inpatient setting functioning as a unit secretary preferred
* Student in active healthcare program such as nursing acceptable
* Alternate experience may include cross-training as a unit secretary, demonstrated skills and abilities to read and process medical staff orders, demonstrated ability to maintain an organized approach to answering the call light, telephone, and disseminating calls and requests to the appropriate staff.
Machines, Equipment Used:
* General office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer.
Physical Requirements:
* Visual acuity and ability to communicate sufficiently to conduct safe patient care duties
* Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 30 pounds, which includes participating in patient mobility activities.
Skills and Abilities:
* Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English.
* Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner
* Ability to communicate effectively in both writing and verbal arenas as well as via email.
* Ability to work independently without supervision.
Environmental Conditions:
* Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment. Occasional outdoor exposure
* Exposure or potential exposure to blood and body fluids may be required.
* Handicapped accessibility.
* May work under stressful circumstances at times.
Proficiency or Productivity Standards:
* May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and or night shifts if needed to meet deadlines.
* May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts.
* Will be required to work as necessary during disaster situations, i.e. before, during or after a disaster.
* May be required to stay after workday to assist after a disaster situation until relief arrives.
* Regular attendance and reporting on time to work is a requirement of position.
