Packaging Engineer  - MUST BE WILLING TO RELOCATE TO Boston South, Massachusetts (MA)

The Packaging Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing packaging/labeling

for products from inception to completion.  In collaboration with Product Marketing and Research, Marketing, worldwide operations, the packaging engineer will determine structural designs and material specifications, determine costs and feasibility of producing proposed packaging, and develop or direct the development of drawings, specifications, samples, and written analysis of proposed packaging.

Job Description:

• Design and develop all packaging for company’s new products from the initial sampling stage to ensure the product survivability in the shipper carton environment.  Track and communicate projects weekly through project tracking lists.
• Prepare graphics artwork based on dielines supplied by suppliers.
• Evaluate suppliers for compliance to company’s packaging color schemes.  Provide trend reports for compliance to color consistency over print runs.  Conduct supplier audit as required.
• Coordinate and/or perform testing (ISTA) as required for each company product.  Ensure testing has been conducted by suppliers and provide test reports noting results.
• Lead cost saving packaging efforts.
• Lead initiatives for environmental packaging alternatives.
• Review quality data for corrective actions and lead corrective actions for improvement of packaging related improvements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in package engineering
• 5+ years industry experience in consumer products in fast paced team environment
• Excellent analytical, technical, problem solving and organizational skills required
• Good interpersonal skills required - both internal cross functional colleagues and external supplier and third party testing contacts
• Experienced working knowledge of most packaging materials
