Aurora Loan Services is currently looking for a Paralegal I
General Duties:
- Handle regulatory and executive complaints, including tracking response times, reviewing, revising and drafting responses to complaints, conducting necessary research, updating complaint database, and preparing monthly reports that summarize complaints, identify root causes, and suggest improvements to processes to avoid future complaints.
- Manage litigation & non-litigation matters affecting company.
- Maintain litigation tracking system.
- Assist outside counsel with discovery and other requests
- Prepare initial packages for delivery to outside counsel.
- Handle subpoenas, forward to appropriate business contact and ensure timely response.
- Prepare settlement authorization memorandums.
- Manage significant regulatory matters.
- Research and writing on federal and state laws affecting the mortgage industry.
- Internal/External Relationships: Must establish relationships with business partners to ensure that responses to complaints are promptly and accurately provided; must interact with ALS and Lehman executive offices; must interact with government agencies; must interact with mortgage applicants and borrowers.
- Independently track and respond to complaints; independently prioritize responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Paralegal Certificate.
- Prefer 4 year degree or equivalent experience
- 2-3 years in mortgage banking, real estate, foreclosure or bankruptcy legal matters.
Technical Skills:
- PC proficiency
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as team member
