Summary


We are currently looking for an IP Paralegal to provide related services to clients as needed in our Minneapolis, MN office. 


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


 


Develops and maintains knowledge of Patent Office Rules and Procedures (US and Foreign)


 


Prepares Intellectual Property applications for filing as requested


 


Prepares formal documents, forwards to client for signature and files with various patent offices


 


Reviews office actions and other communications from patent offices and prepares preliminary drafts of responses as requested


 


Corresponds with clients regarding the status of applications


 


Calculates estimates of filing costs


 


Monitors the docket for any due dates


 


Works closely with the docketing staff to ensure all dates are docketed


 


Prepares Information Disclosure Statements (IDS)


 


Obtains copies of patents and articles for IDS


 


Conducts searches and researches prior art


 


Communicates with patent examiners and other Patent-Office personnel regarding routine matters as directed


 


Develops and documents client procedures


 


Develops, documents and implements new procedures for sending work to India


 


Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  The position requires experience in paralegal services.  An understanding of Intellectual Property laws and regulations is preferred.


 


Education and/or Experience:  Associates Degree and two+ years experience as a paralegal and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


 


Language Skills:  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


Mathematical Skills:  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


 


Reasoning Ability:  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions


 


Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MSOffice.
