BASIC FUNCTION
This position provides support to Data Center Operations (24 x 7). Responsibilities include system and application monitoring of Windows, UNIX, and AS400 platforms, batch production management, Help Desk support during off-hours, and network print services. The focus of this specific role will be on AS/400 Operations.
Looking for someone who can be committed to this position for 1 year+, and the hours are part-time as follows: Saturdays and Sundays, from approximately 8 am - 5 pm. Also available could be a Monday night shift, 5 pm - midnight. Don't hesitate to apply if there is interest in any/all of those shifts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. AS400 System monitoring
2. AS400 Batch execution and monitoring
3. AS400 System backups and IPL
4. Windows / Unix application and system monitoring
Ø Monitors operating systems for failures and outages. Initiates first level corrective action and escalates to the appropriate support group for resolution.
Ø Responds to automated system warning messages. Initiate first level manual corrective actions including system reboots and restarting applications per IS Procedures
Ø Performs batch cycle execution and monitoring
Ø Assess problem events and provide event correlation documentation to support analyst
Ø Provide direct assistance to off-site staff - read displays, logs, error messages.
Ø Carry out corrective actions as directed by on/off site staff
Ø Create & maintain problem incident documentation (Remedy) for all errors/problems identified.
Ø Responds to hardware problems and escalates as necessary.
Ø Prepares tapes from nightly backups for transport to off-sites storage locations. Ensures tapes are good and replaces tapes with new ones when needed. Controls movement of tapes in and out of the Data Center. Maintains tape scratch thresholds. Maintains offsite tape inventory.
Ø Executes backup, recovery, tape library management and offsite tape storage processes.
Ø Demonstrates customer service attitude and work ethic.
Ø Adheres to the Company’s Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards.
Ø Prints and distributes all output created from production batch schedule, printing of Company Payroll and Accounts Payable checks, HR Benefit and IRS form printing. Validate outputs for quality and ensure accurate distribution.
