Millennium Pharmacy Systems Inc. develops and implements medication management and delivery system that provides a total pharmacy solution and contract pharmaceutical management services to the long term care industry. We are seeking a PT Consultant Pharmacist to join our growing long term care practice as we expand in West Virginia.


 


Summary
The primary focus of this position is to perform the duties of a consultant pharmacist which include but are not limited to: medication regimen review, nursing station inspections within long term care facilities, in-servicing nursing staff, and supporting operational and clinical initiatives of Millennium Pharmacy Systems, Inc. The successful candidates must have a strong patient focus and enjoy working as part of a team and will represent Millennium Pharmacy Systems in a professional manner at all times in the work environment.
 
 Qualifications
• Bachelors of Pharmacy degree or Pharm. is required
• Long term care consulting experience is required; Candidates must have had at least 3 CE credits in the area of consulting within the last pharmacy licensure period in West Virginia
• West Virginia pharmacy license current and in good standing is required
•  Other mid-Atlantic pharmacy license current and in good standing are a major plus, but are not required
• Willingness to get cross-licensed in other States at the company’s expense
•  Excellent oral and written communication skills
•  Demonstrated skills working with technology and equipment related to electronic medical records, data gathering, and report preparation.
•  Appropriate computer skills for the position and areas of influence  
• Strong work ethic, with attention to detail and quality
 
Essential Job Functions
• Maintain a strong knowledge of Millennium policies and procedures and applies them consistently
• Perform medication regimen reviews in accordance with all long term care regulations both state and federal
• Inspect all nursing units within customer facilities as often as deemed necessary
• Prepare monthly reports for each facility and provide copies for the Millennium office
• In-service nursing staff in facilities on clinical and operational policies and procedures or changes in such policies as indicated
• Support clinical and operational initiatives within facilities as indicated
• Be able to provide information and consultation to the public and other healthcare professionals on the nature and use of medications
• Use clinical acumen toward the improvement in patient health
• Perform basic patient assessments
• Write and perform pharmacy to nursing educational in-services on medications and disease states
• Attend scheduled Pharmacy and Quarterly Quality Assurance meetings at facilities
• Prepare quarterly pharmacy QA reports for such meetings
• Responsible for planning monthly consulting schedule
• E-mail all billing reports to Millennium billing department immediately upon completion of each facility review
• Keep facility aware of any and all pharmacy operational changes in policies and procedures
• Keep Millennium aware of any administrative changes within each assigned facility
• Support Millennium marketing presentations as requested
• Work with pharmaceutical industry in supporting Millennium pharmacy initiatives
• Foster relationships with other professionals including physicians within assigned facilities
• May assist in the supervision, orientation and training of pharmacy school students and other Millennium employees as deemed necessary
• Monitor, record and communicate as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems
• Utilize knowledge of disease-specific needs of the patient in performance of duties and responsibilities

Other Duties as Assigned
1. Accept the need to travel to facilities on occasion several hours away.
2. Able to work overtime with little or no notice, as needed.
3. Attends staff meetings, teleconferences and patient care conferences as needed.
4. Ability to lift a minimum weight of 35 pounds, and able to perform repetitive standing, sitting, stooping, walking, stretching, reaching, and use full range of body motions.
5. Understand and follow Millennium Pharmacy Systems employee policies and procedure
