Part-time Outreach Counselor/Mentor (MA)

WestBridge is expanding services and in need of several personable, part-time Mentor/Outreach Counselors to work up to 20 hours per week for our Boston Area Team located in Medford, MA.

Mentors act as part of the larger WestBridge Assertive Community Treatment team.  The purpose of this position is to assist clients in making healthy and supportive community connections which will support sobriety, wellness, and overall health.  

 
As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Outreach Counselor ("Mentor") provides active and ongoing community-based outreach and support to individuals who experience severe and persistent mental illness and substance use disorders in the surrounding Medford, MA area.  The Mentor performs a wide range of one-on-one support activities including but not limited to: Support the Participant in maintaining a healthy environment; Communicate with treatment team nightly after each shift and attend regular supervision with WestBridge Staff; Assist in identifying community education needs; build awareness of mental illness, recovery, and substance use disorders;  Work schedule will vary to generally include weeknights and weekend nights, as well as a possibility of some daytime hours when available; Provide ongoing assessment of mental status and consults with WestBridge staff;  Provide the Participant access to their medications and monitor the Participants' self administration of medications; Assist in building support and relationships in the community; develop strong and healthy contacts in the community, including area Peer Support Centers;  Maintains compliance with local, state and federal regulations; Represent WestBridge Community Services in a healthy and positive manner;  Portray a positive role-model in all aspects of care and interactions.


Generally, Mentors work any night of the week from 6 pm to 10 pm. 100% of the Mentor time is spent in the community with a participant/client.  Mentors work a maximum of 20 hours per week.  Mentors must be able to attend the mandatory bi-weekly Tuesday night staff meeting from 5:30 pm to 6:30pm at our Medford office. Some daytime flexibility would be helpful to support our team. Mentors need to have their own cell phone, reliable transportation with 100,000 bodily injury per person /300,000 bodily injury per accident /100,000 property damage for vehicle insurance, and ability to send a brief email after each shift.

This includes participation in a wide-range of activities, such as: kayaking, canoeing, hiking, golfing, walking, bowling, rock climbing, etc.
