The Pathology Coordinator is responsible for coordination of all Biospecimens entering production for The Cancer Genome Atlas; to include, administration and coordination of Pathology Quality Control (QC) for all biospecimens within IGC. Primary responsibilities include: tracking of pathology QC results, document control of processing, standardization of SOP’s, coordination of pathology workflow, inventory management, oversight of specimen tracking database components, communication with staff and contract pathologist, training on contract and staff pathologist on Aperio Spectrum, compliance adherence and corresponding with core leads and project managers. Additional duties include regulatory support and assistance with data collection and data entry as needed.

MARGINAL/ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
Other tasks in support of overall project operations as assigned by senior IGC leadership. Maintains regulation knowledge through publications, journal subscriptions, and a proactive educational approach to compliance needs.
SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY:
This position assists in providing direction, organization and implementation of a pathology operations core model throughout IGC.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A research professional a minimum of 1 years of clinical research experience with large, complex, interdisciplinary clinical project/programs. Pathology experience preferred. Candidate must possess technical, business, promotional and educational writing and presentation skills. Strong and demonstrable planning, management, organization, communication, collaborative and analytical skills are required. Knowledge of medical terminology required. IGC employees are expected to adhere to service standards, code of conduct and organizational values in all their interactions with customers and fellow employees. Working knowledge of Microsoft computer applications and database systems is required. Proven analytical skills are also required. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple projects. Excellent human relations, organizational and communication skill are required.
