We are currently seeking a Manager of Patient Accounts at MBFS to handle these essential job functions:
1. Assumes responsibility for creating and/or developing Key Performance Indicators and uses them to improve department results.
2. Manages and coordinates personnel including delegating tasks and ensuring a uniform workflow.
3. Coordinates and is responsible for day-to-day operations of Follow Up, Refunds & Appeals department.
4. Ensures that personnel are delegated adequate authority to carry out their responsibilities and objectives, but that limitations of their responsibilities and authority are defined in writing and clearly understood.
5. Provides leadership, mentoring, motivation and coaching to personnel.
6. Communicates with staff to resolve reimbursement issues. Includes thorough understanding of the medical insurance industry.
7. Accounts for and administers human resource matters including: recruiting, hiring, terminating, wage and salary administration, career development, corrective action counseling, and performance evaluations.
8. Verifies, approves and submits time records of assigned personnel.
9. Resolves conflict, when necessary, between department staff and other employees.
10. Provides training meetings and seminars for staff to enhance and maintain skills and knowledge related to their department.
11. Communicates with senior management to establish the department staffing requirements and known issues.
12. Implements business and department strategies set forth by senior management.
13. Participates on committees and takes ownership of Advancements/Continuous Improvement efforts as needed.
14. Participates in seminars and training sessions to enhance and maintain business knowledge relevant to the department and position.
15. Develops and recommends specific short and long term business objectives.
16. Participates in improving the business by offering potential alternatives to existing methods.
17. Gathers appropriate data and inputs into spreadsheet programs to compile gainshare percentages.
18. Performs and assists with other duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration or Accounting strongly preferred. At least five years of management experience required. At least one year of experience in the medical insurance industry. Experience using GE Centricity (IDX) and/or OnBase preferred.
1. Thorough knowledge and the ability to gain new knowledge of business principles, practices and procedures required to effectively administer, analyze, draw conclusions and make recommendations regarding department operations.
2. Knowledge of and intermediate to advanced skill in using personal computers in a Windows environment with an emphasis on spread-sheet applications and graphs, word processing, and basic presentation software applications.
3. Knowledge and understanding of a broad scope of functions within the medical insurance industry.
4. Ability to effectively manage staff to ensure productivity that accomplishes the needs of the department and, at the same time, fosters employee growth and involvement in the required day-to-day operations of the department.
5. Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers to coordinate department operations with other departments to ensure that business requirements are satisfied.
6. Ability to perform mathematical calculations in order to accurately analyze and complete reports and budgets.
7. Ability to use sound judgment and problem solving skills to identify and analyze employee and departmental problems and to recommend the proper course of action.
8. Ability to organize and prioritize job tasks and requirements.
9. Ability to pay close attention to detail.
10. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
11. Ability to effectively perform in a multi-task work environment.
12. Knowledge and understanding of the performance impactors horizontally throughout MBFS.
13. Ability to exhibit leadership by demonstrating a commitment to teamwork, supporting alignment with company and department goals and objectives, assisting others to develop their knowledge of the company and department, adapting to change in a positive manner that exemplifies commitment, and working proactively with minimal supervision.
14. Ability to resolve conflict by persuading others through explanation to accept a course of action and be approaching conflict from a positive viewpoint rather than a negative one.
