The scheduler is responsible for expeditiously scheduling all functions of the new patient visit which includes the physician and care manager appointments, patient travel and hotel arrangements.  The scheduler coordinates with the patient, NAS representatives and the outpatient clinic to appropriately schedule the patient based on physician availability and patient requests.


 


Scheduling Duties/ Patient Appointments


Identifies and records visit types in scheduling patients. Follows protocol for scheduling appointments and providing instructions to patients in preparation for visit or procedure. Where appropriate, ensures patients receive instructions in advance of visit or procedure. Obtains current health insurance information coverage and reviews current patient demographics. Updates information as necessary. Identifies if re-registration is required at time of visit or procedure and advises the patient accordingly. Cancels or reschedules appointments based on changes in provider availability. May assist patients with obtaining appointments at other physician and hospital sites and/or scheduling laboratory or radiology testing.



Requirements:



  • Associate degree in business preferred 

  • Minimum 2-3 years medical scheduling with medical terminology

  • Excellent customer service, computer skills, time management, communication skills.

  • Energetic approach, strong follow-up attitude, creative, & team player attitude

  • Strong background in medical assisting or medical scheduling; MA &/or CNA work experience preferred

  • Ability to maintain calendars and schedule appointments

  • Working knowledge of electronic medical record and medical scheduling and record keeping software
