Summary
Responsible for administering payroll for assigned companies by performing a variety of complex payroll functions in the preparation, processing, maintenance, verification and reconciliation of payroll/benefit records and payment of funds to employees in multiple states and for multiple companies. Reviews and ensures accurate computation of pay and interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures. Responsible for the coordination and processing of payroll with outside service provider.

1. Assists Payroll Manager in identifying, implementing and adhering to new payroll policies and procedures as needed.
2. Compiles payroll data such as hours worked, sales or piecework, taxes, insurance, and union dues to be withheld, and employee identification number, from time sheets and other records.
3. Prepares computer input forms, enters data into computer files, or computes wages and deductions and posts to payroll records.
4. Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
5. Records changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records.
6. Assists with periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
7. Prepares requests for checks for the payment of payroll liabilities.
8. Keeps records of leave pay and nontaxable wages.
9. Prepares and issues paychecks.
10. Maintains payroll files and terminated employee files.
11. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma required. Three years minimum experience in payroll where responsibilities include calculating gross to net, preparing check requests to process payroll liabilities, balancing and reconciling payroll reports to general ledger reports, reconciling source documents such as timecards, dues slips and HR documents to payroll reports. May substitute one year of the three year payroll requirement with one year of accounting experience. American Payroll Association FPC/CPP designation preferred.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have experience working with payroll processing software. Costpoint Accounting software is preferred; internet software; Excel Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

American Payroll Association FPC/CPP designation preferred.
