Payroll Administrator

About the Job

The payroll administrator is responsible for preparing all company payroll and related documents and reports.  This includes verifying the accuracy of payroll calculations and accuratly tracking employee 401(k), PTO, tax withholding and other payroll data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Enters all payroll transactions into PeopleSoft.
* Establishes tax exemptions, benefit deductions, leave accruals, banking and 401(k) information for new hires.
* Processes employee terminations and stops deductions. Calculates final paychecks including any owed time or money owed to the company. Enters wage garnishments.
* Enters all worked hours into the system by pay period. Deducts the payment of leave time (PTO) as required. After all hours have been entered into the payroll system, transmits all transactions to the payroll service company for processing. Completed paychecks are returned the next day.
* Runs audit reports before and after transmission to verify the correctness of the payroll, reviewing data entry and overall totals before issuing paychecks to employees.
* Reviews automatic time clock data, sends reports to the department supervisors for explanations and keys exceptions into the automatic time clock system.
* Prepares all special checks from the payroll system including payments for relocation, commissions, bonuses, terminations and retroactive payments.
* Prepares reports to ensure payments from the payroll system such as the 401(k) report, quarterly business tax reports, and Paid Time Off. This position distributes W-2s to all employees on an annual basis and makes corrections to W-2's as needed.
* Answers employee questions regarding paychecks, deductions, taxes and paid hours.
* Maintains current knowledge of all federal and state tax regulations relating to payroll. Contacts state authorities when required to establish the payment of state taxes in a state where the company has not currently had any employees.
* Attend training classes as needed.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Certification as Payroll Specialist preferred.

Experience: A minimum of two years automated payroll experience or its equivalent is required.

Skills, knowledge, and qualifications:
* Experience with PeopleSoft 9.0 North American Payroll is required.
* Computer and math/bookkeeping skills are required.
* Knowledge of automated payroll systems, Word, and Excel are required.
* Must possess good organizational and communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively with internal and external customers.
* Ability to work independently.
* Must be able read, write, speak and understand English.

This position may require registration with the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) and/or other gaming jurisdictions in which we operate.
