Payroll Administrator

New York City Opera (NYCO) was established in 1943 and has been recognized as one of America’s preeminent cultural institutions, celebrated for its adventurous programming and innovative, risk-taking production style.  The company’s wide-ranging repertory of 275 works spans five centuries of music and include 29 world premieres and 61 American and/or New York premieres. 


 


The Payroll Administrator will report directly to NYCO’s Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for performing all activities necessary to process payroll for union and hourly employees.  Integrity, strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are crucial for this role.


 


 


Key duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:


·         Maintain employee personnel files


·         Process, verify and administer weekly payroll and records


·         Ensure all salaries are properly supported and paid accurately 


·         Process and administer voluntary and involuntary employee deductions


·         Payroll reconciliation


·         Administration of union health benefits


·         Preparation of monthly union benefit payments


·         Preparation and processing of all monthly reports


·         Preparation of special reports for management


·         Issuing W-2s & 1099 tax forms.


·         Maintain up-to-date understanding of payroll taxes at state and federal level


·         Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures


·         Understanding of union wage and benefit agreements


 


Qualifications:


·         Bachelors degree


·         Knowledge and experience with ADP payroll systems preferably ADP Payforce


·         3 Years of payroll experience preferably in a union environment


·         Ability to maintain strict confidentiality


·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills


·         Excellent interpersonal/customer-oriented skills
