PAYROLL/HR SUPERVISOR


 


Position Description:


 


Fast-paced, energetic, national construction services firm seeks a Payroll/HR Supervisor to manage all aspects of a multi-state full-cycle payroll process.   This position will report to the Director of HR and assist with maintaining all payroll and HRIS related systems, benefits administration, personnel records, and various risk management functions.  Payroll/HR Supervisor may be asked to perform additional tasks related to human resource functions, and will have exposure to all levels of employees, including top management 


 



  • Perform all payroll related activities including full-cycle payroll processing, weekly transfer of payroll data, payroll tax activities and reporting. 
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all associated payroll taxes and compliance with Federal, State and Local tax laws.
  • Manage all 401(k) deductions, changes, loans, distributions, and reporting.
  • Responsible for benefits administration
  • Field all risk management (worker’s comp and general liability) related issues; assist with company wide safety program
  • Ensure proper, accurate and timely reporting to required governmental agencies (EEO, OSHA, EDD, etc.).  Responds to all unemployment insurance claims.
  • Review electronic time keeping/job cost system for completeness and accuracy and contact various department supervisors for any missed or inaccurate entries.
  • Build a working partnership between the Payroll and Accounting departments to provide appropriate reporting and transaction information and assist in the resolution of queries regarding the payroll journal entry or issues with General Ledger Interface (GLI).
  • Continuously assess the payroll systems and processes for gaps and inefficiencies and develop recommendations for improvements as necessary to ensure accurate and efficient processing.

 


 


 


Position Requirements:


 



  • Minimum 5 years processing full cycle, multi-state payroll.
  • Prior experience functioning as the lead or as a senior player processing payroll.
  • ADP experience in Pay eXpert and eTime.  Will also consider candidates that have PCPW and/or EZ Labor experience.
  • Experience coordinating garnishments.
  • Strong knowledge base and experience in federal and state employment, labor and wage and hour laws.
  • Supplementary training, certification and/or designations (AA, BA, BS, CPP, PHR, etc.) related to the payroll, accounting or human resource fields is preferred.
  • Prior experience processing payroll within a job costing/professional services firm is highly desirable.
  • Ability to see the “big picture” business perspective, but is willing to “roll up their sleeves” and do whatever it takes to get the job done.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
