Job Description
Payroll Manager - Corporate
Position Overview The primary objective of this role is to provide strategic leadership in the payroll processing function and driving future process enhancements for Pentair in North America. This will include implementing best practices, setting operational policies and procedures, business process improvements and managing/developing a corporate payroll staff. This position will report into the Corporate Controlling Finance Area. Major Areas of Accountability - Ensures that all payroll services are processed in accordance with the established Pentair processes and policies.
- Lead, as the corporate subject matter expert, specific executive payroll practices for a complex, multi-industrial organization.
- Manage the performance and development of members of the work team, ensuring work loads are distributed appropriately in a manner that will optimize service delivery. Develop and implement payroll metrics to track performance of the team.
- Manages process improvement within the unit to foster and encourage ongoing development and associated efficiencies. Maintain effective internal controls and proactively work to identify and implement efficiency improvements.
- Ensure compliance with regional/local government legal requirements and quality procedures to ensure operational excellence. Maintain financial controls and audit trails for all transactions.
- Ensures payroll issues are escalated and resolved with root cause analysis and corrective action for all levels of employees and management.
- Applies solid understanding of rules and regulations for the US, Canada and Mexico and coaches teams accordingly. Ensure that payroll records and reports are in compliance with all regulations for any government payroll audits.
- Performs or participates in special payroll projects
- Maintain leading edge knowledge of payroll discipline
Minimum Qualifications Required: - Bachelors Degree, MBA preferred
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred
- 10+ years progressive experience in a multi national payroll environment
- 5+ years previous management and team development experience
- Expert level knowledge of PeopleSoft
- Experience implementing systems and teams for maximum efficiency
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Leadership: This role has a team of 6-10 employees in the payroll function Travel Requirements: 15-25% on an as needed basis
