Summary
The Payroll Tax Team is responsible for handling full-cycle client payroll activities, including monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, taxes, and third party file feeds. The team is highly integrated with the Technical (AMO) Team. Responsible for all aspects of quality service for external clients. Contacts and assists clients in process of obtaining information in support of payroll production in regards to tax related issues, responds to client questions/concerns, verifies totals and delivers quality customer service. Researches and resolves client tax issues and is responsible for management and reconciliation of tax filings. TEAM PROCESSES: Payroll, Tax and Third-Party interfaces.
Duties (include but are not limited to)
§ Contacts clients daily (if necessary) to obtain payroll tax data, which may be affected by special payments, tax allocations and other miscellaneous changes.
§ Keeps abreast of the payroll processing system and any changes in wage and tax laws, and corresponds with local, federal and state agencies on behalf of our clients in problem situations.
§ Responsible for periodic/month/ quarter/year end reporting, W2s and W2cs.
§ Coordinates and manages team processes and initiatives in order to satisfy client service agreements. Continually evaluates and improves work processes to achieve performance goals of the team.
§ Builds strong client relationships by maintaining strong communications and exercising detailed client knowledge to facilitate the highest quality service for clients.
§ Coordinates efforts on client initiatives, such as open enrollment and bonus payments. Maintains and reports statistics related to objectives and provides recommendation of efficiency to the Operations Services Team Manager.
§ Ensure production support (AMO) receives current and accurate tax rate information (unemployment rates).
§ Assume certain responsibilities from AMO, as required.
Education/Experience
§ In-depth functional experience with taxes including multi-state and multi-locale tax calculations and processing, reconciliations, periodic, monthly, quarterly and year end reporting, W2s, management and reconciliation of tax filings, etc.
§ AA or 2-year degree (or equivalent experience)
§ American Payroll Association certification is a plus!
§ 3 - 5 years experience as an on-going client contact, with demonstrated success in applying knowledge to build a successful client relationship
§ Intermediate to advanced proficiency with HRIS database, preferably SAP (PeopleSoft and/or Oracle is helpful)

§ Demonstrated ability to identify, diagnose and resolve basic to complex issues affecting service delivery
§ Oral and written communication skills. Ability to interact with internal and external clients at all levels
§ Demonstrated ability to respond promptly, thoughtfully and effectively to changing work environments, changing priorities and new situations
§ Ability to quickly adapt to the variable environment of a start-up or rapidly growing organization
§ Ability to work with figures and reconcile data
§ Computer literate. Ability to comfortably perform within windows application environment, create spreadsheets and work with formulas within a spreadsheet
§ Ability to follow oral and written directions, focus on detail and accuracy in a repetitive, process disciplined environment
§ Interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
