Clinical Specialist
Job Description
Responsible for administering medications based on physician orders. Performing the day-to-day professional operations of the department which includes drug acquisition, distribution, and monitoring, identifying, resolving, and preventing drug related problems that may affect optimal patient care outcomes and to research and communicate to our medical and nursing staff, as well as to all ancillary services.
Primary Duties include IV admixture, and unit dose, therapeutic drug monitoring and quality improvement initiatives, Patient med monitoring, patient education, drug utilization, transitional ivy, drug review charts and some dispensing.
The Clinical Specialist is responsible for the preparation, dispensing, and monitoring of medications used throughout the facility. The pharmacist is expected to sustain an environment for the safe, rational, effective, and efficient use of medications prescribed to patients of all age groups.
Pharmacists are responsible for the direct supervision of technical support personnel. All job duties shall be performed in accordance with all applicable State and Federal laws, JCAHO, and professional practice standards, and policies and procedures of the health system/pharmacy department.
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience: inpatient hospital experience as Clinical Pharmacist,Clinical Specialist or Clinical Coordinator with PGY residency in general medical/surgical hospital preferred.
Shift: Days M-F
