DescriptionPlease Note: This position will be located in our Medical Ambulatory Care Center (MACC) in Longwood opening in the Fall 2012.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Resource Leader is a certified technician who assists the manager/supervisor with process and work flow throughout their shift. The Resource Leader will assume the charge position in the absence of the manager/supervisor. The Resource Leader will assist with being a preceptor for new technicians and student interns. Must be able to maintain a high level of accuracy in the products produced.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Working with the supervisor, will initiate in-service training for essential new/review equipment or instrumentation.
2. Communicates with OR for updates and changes in surgery schedule, prioritizes work based on surgical schedule.
3. Assembles specialty case carts as pick lists require, sends completed case carts to the OR, and returns unused supplies from the OR to proper inventory.
4. Maintains adequate par levels of products both common stock and special order items—in a cost-effective manner, rotate stock.
5. Utilizes Instrument Tracking System and Surgical Services Scheduling System as necessary.
6. Assembles instrumentation for sterilization following the set count/instruction sheet. Set must be inspected for function, defects, cleanliness and overall condition.
7. Performs decontamination procedures according to prescribed specifications in a safe and cost-effective manner. Disassembles instrumentation and processes it according to manufacturer’s guidelines.
8. Addresses damage/repair of instrumentation upon arrival into decontamination area and reports to supervisor/manager.
9. Maintains adequate supply levels of sterile stock that is prepared in CPD for the sterile storage/case cart assembly area.
10. Responsible for the returning of sterile supplies/instrumentation to the appropriate storage space in sterile/case cart assembly area, rotating as necessary.
11. Assists in other areas of the department.
12. Utilizes the communication book/board and shift reports as necessary to keep the staff current with the changes, updates, etc.
13. Monitors quality assurance of all items ready for sterilization for correct identifications and packaging to insure proper sterilization.
RequirementsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. High school education or GED. Knowledge of hospital, infection control, and medical terminology is highly desirable.
2. Must be a certified instrument technician through the CBSPD, Inc.
3. The ability to read, write and comprehend English and follow detailed technical instructions; ability to communicate with others in order to fulfill above duties.
4. The Resource Leader must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and have above average problem solving and organizational skills.
5. Must have exceptional interpersonal relationship skills with demonstrated ability to juggle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands and to seek supervisory assistance as appropriate.
6. Must have basic computer skills.
7. Must be able to operate T-Doc Instrument Tracking System and problem solve process issues.
8. Must be able to maintain positive relationships with both internal and external customers. Adheres to all patient satisfaction standards documented in the MEEI Employee Handbook.
