Description PLEASE ONLY APPLY TO THIS POSITION IF YOU ARE A CERTIFIED PHARMACY TECHNICIAN, IV CERTIFIED AND EXPERIENCE IN MEDITECH.
Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the pharmacy. -Attains competency in the operation and maintenance of pharmacy automation equipment, i.e. Accudose, Robot-Rx, and Meditech.
-Maintains records associated with departmental functions assigned to the technician, i.e. times of making pharmacy rounds, times of sending medications via the pneumatic tube system, refrigerator temperatures, crash cart fills, documentation of compounding and pre-packing pharmaceutical products, etc.
-Answers the telephone and provides assistance to the caller to satisfy their inquiries.
-Issues floor stock medications or supplies to other departments after being checked by a pharmacist.
-Enters pharmacy charges into the pharmacy computer system on a daily basis
-Assists the pharmacist in the dispensing of medications, i.e. order entry of physician orders and filling those physician orders to include the reconstituting of medications if required.
-Prepares parenteral medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist to include large and small volume parenterals, chemotherapy, and hyperalimentaion solutions .
-Delivers medications to the nursing units on both scheduled basis as well as an emergency basis when deemed appropriate.
-Checks medications for expiration dates within the department as well as on the nursing units.
-Participates in departmental orientation programs, training programs for pharmacy technicians, pharmacy staff meetings, and inservice education
-Attends and participates in meetings and functions required by the hospital or by the department.
-Performs quality-monitoring functions as requested.
-Promotes positive customer services with internal and external customers
Requirements -Recent/current Hospital pharmacy experience.
-Must be IV Certified
-Successfully completed and acquired high school diploma or GED.
-Holds active national pharmacy technician certification in good standing with State Board of Pharmacy.
-ACPE certification in sterile product preparation is preferred. Educational requirements appropriate for meeting age-specific needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
