AIDS Healthcare Foundation is currently seeking a Pharmacy Technician to work on a per diem time basis supporting our LA Metro pharmacies. Hours are Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. - Processes medication orders or prescriptions; mixes pharmaceutical preparations, fills bottles with prescribed tablets and caplets, and types labels for bottles; assists pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medication. - Operates and uses appropriate techniques within systems for storage, preparation and dispensing of medicinal agents and follows the healthcare centers policies regarding medication preparation and labeling, controlled substances reconciliation and purchasing of pharmaceuticals and supplies. - Prepares and processes prior authorization forms for ADAP, AHF and Positive Healthcare. - Assists the pharmacist in the retrieval of accurate, concise, applicable and timely drug information. - Collects patient specific data for prescription and billing processing including but not limited to third party payers, delivery preferences, allergies, etc. - When processing prescriptions assures that the third party (insurance) adjudication process is complete in accordance with AHF protocol. Conducts audit of QS1 electronics claims log on a daily basis as part of the adjudication process. - Utilizes all available resources, including EMR (electronic medical records) and Medical Manager for purpose of verifying patient insurance information. - Receives and stores incoming supplies; counts stock and enters date in computer to maintain inventory records. - Cleans equipment and sterilizes glassware according to prescribed methods. - Helps maintain orderly, clean environment in the Pharmacy, including cleanliness of pharmacy stock and supplies. - Drives vehicle to deliver medical supplies to client's home or place of business. - Promotes timely deliveries as scheduled to patients. - Sets delivery routes and contributes to the development of delivery routes and procedures. - Maintains accurate pick up process. - Checks in all triplicates and gives to Pharmacist in Charge. - Handles problems with deliveries and/or customer service complaints related to deliveries. - Obtains patient signature on all necessary transactions. - Maintains vehicle maintenance and all records (invoices). - On-call availability for problems/questions in the delivery department. - Places stock on shelves or racks. - Collects/picks up empty containers or rejected merchandise. - Loads delivery vehicle. Certificates, Licenses and Registrations Current California Pharmacy Technician Certification Computer/Software Skills & Abilities Knowledge of QSI Pharmacy Adjudication Program Other Skills & Abilities/Qualifications Ability to type 35 WPM.
