Job Description:
Promotes and maintains health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician. *Contributes to physician's effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physician directives. *Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories *Documents patient care services by charting inpatient and department records *Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies; interpreting test results. *Expediting discharges: IDP orders, discharge orders, and arranging follow-up for patients. *Following up with consult recommendations. *Notifying attending physicians of admissions to their services. *Attending rounds *Coverage of unstable patients *Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans *Compliance with core measures *Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
*Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections *Interdisciplinary rounds working with teams/case managers to improve patient safety and LOS *Answering questions of nurses and families *Maintains professional and technical knowledge.
Job Qualifications:
New York State license and current Registration Bachelors Degree Graduate of an accredited PA Program Current Infection Control Certificate Current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants Emergency Room experience is preferred
