Physician Assistant
- Bachelor's degree is required
- Experience is preferred
- The Physician Assistant (PA) in the Department of CT Surgery manages a broad spectrum of surgical and medical adult and pediatric patients and performs a wide range of clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The attending surgeons, who serve as the day-to-day clinical supervisors of the physician assistant, direct these efforts. Consultation with the supervising and/or attending physician is required for all admissions. Obtains detailed history and performs physical examinations on surgical and assigned patients. Assists in preoperative and postoperative care; writes appropriate orders, including those for narcotics, stimulants, and depressant drugs, and pre and postoperative orders as necessary. Interpersonal skills needed for interacting effectively with physicians, staff, patients and their families. Analytical skills needed for evaluating patients, coordinating treatment plans. 1-2 years of experience preferred. Requires MA Physician Assistant's Licensure. Must have graduated from an accredited physician assistant program, and be certified by the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Must be NCCPA board certified or board eligible and certified within one year.
