About the practice

 

Gramercy Cardiac Diagnostic Services is New York’s premier dedicated cardiac diagnostic practice. Committed to leadership in the appropriate use of sophisticated technology for patient care, the practice operates three dedicated cardiac PET machines and is developing partnerships with national institutions to widen understanding of the benefits of this important established technology. In its 5 locations across four New York City boroughs the practice provides the full range of non-invasive cardiac diagnostic services – dedicated cardiac PET, SPECT, exercise treadmill stress tests, echocardiograms, vascular studies, T-wave alternans, tilt table, and Holter monitors. Gramercy Cardiac is an ICANL, ICAEL and ACR accredited facility.

 

Overview of the role

 

Reporting to the President/Chief Medical Officer, the Physician Assistant will be responsible for managing all aspects of patient preparation and supervision for PET, SPECT and other cardiac testing.  He/she will supervise Medical Assistants in preparing patients, taking histories and monitoring patients through the tests. He/she will also assist physicians and other practitioners in the supervision of stress testing, completion of relevant paperwork, and patient follow up.

Purpose:              To support and supervise cardiac PET and SPECT testing in the practice’s six New York City locations.

 

Principal responsibilities:

 

  • Oversee all aspects of patient preparation for dedicated cardiac PET and SPECT stress tests
  • Provide advice and guidance to Medical Assistants
  • Use computer modeling to assess pre-test likelihood of CAD
  • Obtain patient history and physical
  • Assist physicians with stress test supervision
  • Administer medications to patients
  • Provide support to the operations of the practice by maintaining medical equipment and keeping examination rooms properly supplied and ready for patients
  • Interact with patients and other physician offices to assist with follow up, appointments, and patient and physician questions

 

Requirements:

 

·         Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant training program

·         Current licensure as a Registered Physician Assistant with the New York State Office of the Professions

·         Current certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

·         Bachelor’s degree

·         Excellent decision-making skills in regards to diagnostic patient care

·         Good written and verbal communication skills

·         Strong people management skills and team working skills

·         Good organizational and time planning skills

·         Ability to multi-task and follow-up on a number of current projects

·         Flexibility and enthusiasm

·         Ability to work on own initiative
