Olin Chlor Alkali Products has an opening in the Niagara Falls, NY facility for a Plant Buyer . This role procures materials, equipment, supplies, and services in a timely, cost effective manner to support the plant MRO and division budgets.

Responsibilities of the position include providing day-to-day purchasing services and oversight of the MRO Warehouse Operation / Budget for plant-site organization; reviewing requisitions to ensure proper approvals, clarity, comprehensiveness, and coordination with requisitioners' needs and expectations to assure an accurate understanding of user requirements; effectively utilizing the SAP system to enter and retrieve information in a timely manner; providing daily support to plant employees needing SAP MM module assistance on requisitions, purchase orders, reports, etc.; submitting plant monthly activities report for Chlor Alkali Division Monthly Reporting; coordinating and maintaining a close, effective working relationship with suppliers and internal departments to assure a positive free-flow of communication which will support Olin’s long term interests; providing off-hours and weekend on-call services to the facility as necessary; assisting with sales/disposal of surplus/obsolete materials and ensuring that proper retirements have been executed; conducting and participating in off-site audits of suppliers facilities and including major plant internal customers in this activity; performing other duties as assigned by Materials Manager or designee.

Requirements include:

•Must have a 4-year college degree in a related field/discipline.

•Minimum of 5 years experience as a Plant Buyer, Assistant Plant Buyer, or Purchasing Agent is required.

•Experience purchasing raw materials in a manufacturing environment is required; chemical manufacturing experience is preferred.

•Experience in negotiating contracts with vendors, including managing a competitive bid process is required.

•SAP experience is strongly preferred.

•Must demonstrate the technical expertise necessary to identify with the needs of project sponsors and commercial expertise required to conclude business arrangements.

•Demonstrated ability to work effectively with employees in the department, across other departments, and with other units of the business.
