About the Job

Plant Controller

Responsible for all plant accounting and related reporting for a high quality fuel grade alcohol plant operation.

Essential Responsibilities:

·         Maintain the plant operations accounting system and interfaces with corporate ERP system.

·         Maintain and develop appropriate internal controls and ensure compliance with all accounting policies and procedures.

·         Prepare appropriate journal entries to General Ledger and ensure balance sheet account reconciliations are completed monthly.

·         Supervise and train 2 direct reports involved in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger and Inventory accounting.

·         Management, verification and analysis of all production and product inventories, including standard costing, cycle counts, inventory valuation and physical inventory processes.

·         Prepare detailed analysis of manufacturing variances and fixed and variable costs

·         Prepare monthly plant financial and operating reports and analysis of results, including performance to budget, forecast and prior periods and standard cost variances.

·         Monitor and report on major capital and expense projects.

·         Maintain approved bills of materials and develop and propose standard costs for manufacturing processes.

·         Preparation of TTB reports. Coordination of meetings and reporting to TTB and regulatory agencies for sales and use taxes.

·         Assist in the development of the annual budgets.

·         Other tasks assigned by supervisor.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting. 

Skills/Experience Needed:

·         3+ years manufacturing with an emphasis on inventory management and standard costing. Experience in high quality fuel grade alcohol industry a plus.

·         Specific experience with Purchasing/Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Inventory in production processing operations.

·         Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning systems a plus;

·         Strong analytical skills and excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

·         Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to lead, negotiate, and successfully collaborate with others to influence change.

·         Microsoft Office application use, specifically MS Excel.

 

Physical Requirements:

·         Telephone and computer use is required. 

·         Occasional driving may be necessary and requires a driver’s license. 

·         Ability to travel to other locations via air travel.

·         Ability to work within a food/beverage production facility alongside operational equipment and employees.

·         Ability to climb and maneuver on ladders. 

·         Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
