Position Summary: 
 

Responsible for the financial planning, analysis and reporting functions in support of the Valdese manufacturing plant and the East Carolina zone, as well as the garage, transportation, administration, and human resources cost centers.  Manages the plant accounting staff performing the local accounting functions including accounts payable, payroll, production accounting, and general accounting.


 




Essential Duties & Responsibilities:  
  • Areas of responsibility include General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable and Payroll

  • Develop Annual Operating Plans and Period/Quarterly Projections

  • Prepare daily, weekly and period-end reports and ad-hoc analysis when necessary

  • Prepare weekly department scorecard detailing performance metrics such as line efficiencies and material overuse, as well as spending variances and financial estimates

  • Participate in plant leadership meetings and strategy sessions

  • Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Establish and maintain controls environment in compliance with internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley

  • Supervise, lead and develop staff


  • Bachelors degree in Accounting/Finance; MBA/CPA preferred

  • Minimum of five years of progressive supervisory experience in a manufacturing accounting environment

  • Knowledgeable in the areas of GAAP, Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets, General Ledger Accounting, Accounts Payable and Payroll

  • Familiar with internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements

  • Excellent communication, organization and problem solving skills

  • Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word (required); SAP (preferred)

  • Self starter, quick learner, team player, flexible

  • Capable of leading and managing projects
