O-I is currently seeking a Plant Human Resources Generalist/Supervisor (with payroll) for its manufacturing facility in Muskogee, OK.
Under general supervision of plant manager, responsible for the administration and coordination of HR functions pertaining to labor and employee relations, employment, wage and salary administration, benefit administration, affirmative action and employee activities; responsible for administration and coordination of hourly payroll functions. Will also act as a "back-up" for health & safety and health services programs.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Labor and Employee Relations
-Responsible for all aspects of grievance record-keeping; completes grievance analysis for Area Labor Relations Manager.
-Maintains union membership cards, process new enrollments or withdrawls. Maintains updated seniority lists and provides same to local union officials.
-Prepares all hourly job postings, follows through award process; informs local union officials of all hourly postings, awards, terminations, hires and lay-offs.
Employment
-Responsible for the hiring process for all hourly and plant staff functions, from sourcing to on-boarding.
-Maintains all records for new hires, including assignment of clock number, completing insurance and beneficiary forms, payroll deduction forms, etc. Completes all required State and Federal tax forms and Federal I-9 Employment verification forms.
-Generates all required internal forms for new employees, i.e. departmental absence records, etc.
-Handles lay-off logistics, completing all necessary forms, updating service records and advising laid-off employees of benefits. On recalls, makes contact with employee by phone or registered letter, documents date and time, brings recalled employees up-to-date on any plant policy changes.
-On terminations, assures that all documentation has been completed including exit interview, insurance conversion, COBRA notification, service record, 401(k), and final hearing test.
-Responsible for all record-keeping for plant Apprenticeship programs, including state applications, work and classroom record books, log of apprentice hours, monitors progress of apprentices for changes in pay scale.
Benefit Administration
-Responsible for administration of FMLA, Sickness & Accident disability claims, workers compensation claims, and LTD/PTD claims.
-Handles retirement logistics completing all benefit calculation forms, SS forms, medical / insurance enrollments, federal and state tax forms, and 401(k) distribution forms. Spends time one-on-one with prospective retirees answering questions.
-Corresponds with GMP Trust in case of hourly retirements. Serves a primary in-plant contact for retirees.
-Responsible for processing paperwork relative to unemployment compensation, employee relocations, and educational assistance.
-Keeps records relative to Employee Assistance Program, maintaining necessary confidentiality.
Workers Compensation
-Manages the plant's workers' compensation administration program including claims review meetings.
-Investigates details of workers compensation claims and coordinates with assigned third party administrator and local counsel as necessary to resolve compensation claims. Has settlement authority in cases up to a specific limit.
Affirmative Action
-Responsible for completion of the annual Affirmative Action Plan report.
-Keeps all EEO, AAP, and other policies posted and up-to-date.
Wage & Salary Administration
-Responsible for all record-keeping on W&S such as hourly job rates and schedules, pertinent employee information, garnishments or child support deductions, etc.
-Completes employment verification forms.
-Responsible for the Plant Training Manual, documents training received by employees.
Employee Activities
-Makes all necessary arrangements for the Plant Service Award program.
-Works directly with the United Way on the annual plant drive, handles all logistics relative to payroll deductions.
Other various and related duties as assigned. Position Requirements
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
-Bachelors Degree required. Will consider equivalent work experience.
-General plant experience or safety administration experience/knowledge.
