REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The position(s) will report directly to the Vice President of North America West & President – AES Southland.
SUMMARY:
The Plant Manager will have overall responsibility for a four unit, gas-fired power generating facility located along the coast of Southern California. The business is part of AES Southland which includes Redondo Beach, Long Beach and Huntington Beach, California.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of four generating units: one totaling 900 MWs, and the other 1,375 MWs.
- Lead the business in a manner that is consistent with AES Values, while ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Contribute to the development of the leadership team by fostering a supportive working environment and encouraging effective communication.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with various state and federal agencies.
- Participate in the development of a long-term vision for the facility including a comprehensive plant modernization.
- Develop and maintain positive community relations with local policy makers and influential stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with the other Southland Plant Managers to coordinate activities across the three plants and capitalize on opportunities to leverage the efforts of the group.
- Promote the development and tracking of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and take necessary steps for improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Interested candidates should have a minimum of 10 years experience in progressively responsible and diverse positions in power plant operations and maintenance.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or a related field is preferred, but not required.
- Must possess a positive outlook and be driven to achieve high quality outcomes and business success.
- Knowledge and skills associated with budgeting, financial reporting and the administration of various project agreements are required.
- Must have proven ability to motivate teams to produce quality results and foster a positive work environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Should be a forward thinker who critically assesses own performance as well as the performance of the business with a focus on continuous improvement.
- A willingness to live in the city where the plant is located is preferred.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to be permanently employed in the United States.
