Position Description

Platform Director

DePuy Mitek, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Platform Director, located in Raynham, Massachusetts.
DePuy, Inc. develops and markets products under the DePuy Orthopaedics, DePuy Spine, CODMAN and MITEK brands. DePuy Orthopaedics and DePuy Trauma and Extremities provide products for reconstructing damaged or diseased joints, and for repairing and reconstructing traumatic skeletal injuries. DePuy Spine facilitates fusion of the spine and correction of spinal deformities, including CHARIT, the first artificial spinal disc. Codman provides for the surgical treatment of neurological and central nervous system disorders through products such as hydrocephalic shunt valve systems, implantable drug pumps and micro-surgical instrumentation. DePuy Mitek offers innovative devices in sports medicine for the treatment of soft tissue injuries.
The Platform Director will have "front end" marketing responsibility within the DePuy Mitek Marketing team for the Shoulder Arthroscopy Platform to support portfolio development and the identification and concept development of future product/platform opportunities. Under guidance of the Director of Platform Development, the Platform Director will develop overall market research data for new product/platform potentials including; Market size, growth and penetration projections; Customer and Stakeholder requirements; Competitors and products; Surgeon segmentation analysis; Clinical requirements; and Disruptive product/technology opportunities through the use of market research, customer/stakeholder interviews, surveys, literature review, attending industry related conferences etc.
The Platform Director will also partner with concept engineering to provide direction regarding User Needs and Performance requirements for new products. They will assist program managers/engineers in soliciting customer/stakeholder feedback on ideas/prototypes thru interviews, cadaver evaluations etc. They will also partner with commercial marketing to understand the requirements to maintain and/or grow existing product platforms and obtain feedback and buy in to market models and product performance requirements.
The Platform Director will develop and sustain positive surgeon relationships through on site visits, OR and professional conference visits, email and phone communication and timely follow through.
Principal Duties will include: Portfolio management/planning/strategies; User needs identification & analysis; Translating user needs into product requirements; Business case & financial modeling; Competitive assessments; Surgeon segmentation analysis; Other stakeholder analysis (patients, payors and providers); Developing and managing surgeon relationships within HCC guidelines and corporate objectives; and obtaining broader stakeholder feedback and buy in where needed (including commercial marketing, sales, management board, New Business Development).

Qualifications

A minimum of a BS/BA degree is required with an MBA or other advanced degree highly preferred. A minimum of 6 years of total business experience is required, with at least 2 of those years in the following areas: a combination of R&D and marketing experience, brand or strategy marketing, or new product development project management is required. Medical Device experience is highly preferred. Experience in developing and presenting business strategies is required. Must have the ability to influence without authority across multiple levels. This position requires someone to be both strategic and tactical. Experience with financial modeling is preferred. Must possess demonstrated analytical skills. Must have experience with Voice of the Customer (VOC) and/or Job Outcomes Constraints (JOC) techniques and the ability to translate them. Must be able to utilize both written and oral communication skills to produce effective marketing materials. Must have experience making effective presentations to small and large groups at all levels. Must have experience working in cross functional teams, and be able to engage and get buy in from key internal stakeholders and drive teams towards consensus on product needs/opportunities. This position requires approximately 30% travel primarily domestic with some international travel.
