Position Summary:
The currently available position is for a Portfolio Development Manager for Sara Lee's North American Fresh Bakery Division handling Restaurant & Institutional account development for the Western Region. In this capacity, the PDM is responsible for execution of the Sara Lee Fresh Bakery strategies at the Customer level that deliver our Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
The PDM is responsible for:
- Creating and the Development of all restaurant & institutional business opportunities.
- Interface with the Sara Lee DSD and Sales Operations Zones.
- Understanding the Customer's key objectives and strategies.
- Implementing collaborative business plans that deliver long-term mutual growth.
- Managing the interface with the Customer, resulting in achievement of volume and profit targets.
- Customizing, selling and implementing corporate strategies and objectives.
- Development and use of Sara Lee's Category Leadership Programs (CLP) with the Customer from executive suite to the store.
- Managing the interface at the Customer, resulting in achievement of volume and profit targets.
- Will be the primary customer point of contact with all levels of the Customer
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Penetrate Customer at multiple levels and establish business relationships that enable strategic collaborative business planning initiatives, where appropriate. Key Sara Lee Fresh Bakery interface with Customer.
- Penetrate and establish relationships across multiple touch points of Customer's value chain (Marketing, Category Management, Supply Chain, and Retail Operations). Own development, review and maintenance of the Sara Lee Fresh Bakery Customer Profile. Provide qualitative Customer information that is utilized for Customer Segmentation & AOP planning process.
- Own and lead development of strategic and tactical business planning activities with Customer and Sara Lee Operations Zones, ensuring achievement of AOP.
- Develop and execute Customer strategies, tactics, and key initiatives that deliver Sara Lee Fresh Bakery AOP.
- Identify requests and manage resource requirements needed to deliver Customer strategies.
- Coordinate cross-functional resources (Category Management, Retail Operations, Sales Operations, Finance, Customer Marketing, Marketing, and Supply Chain) by providing consistent direction and support, skills development through coaching and training, and motivation of the Team to achieve maximum productivity.
- Develop and execute the most efficient and effective trade spending plan with guidelines established by the AOP, including initial scenario planning, plan input and ongoing maintenance of the TPM tool.
- Responsible for post-promotion analysis.

- Responsible for owning & achieving AOP for assigned Customer base.
- Has primary responsibility for the Trade Plan for assigned Customer base.
- Viewed by the customer as the individual responsible for their primary buyer of a given product.
- 3-5 years relevant CPG experience to include some combination of:
- Minimum 3 years of Customer Management
- Customer/Trade Marketing
- Category Management preferred
- DSD model experience
- R&I / Foodservice
