Post Doctoral Fellow

  • GENERAL SUMMARY:

    We have an opening for a Post-doctoral Fellow to work with Mouse Models of Colon Cancer in the Hung Colon Cancer Laboratory within the Gastroenterology division at Tufts Medical Center.

    The laboratory has developed multiple genetically engineered mouse models for sporadic colon cancer that replicate key genetic changes observed in human disease. The laboratory continues to refine these models to better understand relevant signaling aberrations and to dissect their interplay with mutations in other pathways. These studies support the major theme of the laboratory: the development of 1) diagnostic approaches for early tumor detection and 2) therapeutic strategies for established disease.

    This funded Postdoctoral position will be filled ideally with a candidate that has experience in the following: development and analysis of mouse disease models; standard molecular biology techniques, including PCR amplification, RNA and protein analysis, gene-introduction, transfection, electroporation and expression protocols; experience handling fresh tissues and cell cultures for genetic and molecular biologic analysis; in vitro pharmacologic analyses using small molecule inhibitors; familiarity with high-throughput genetic techniques, including expression profiling, and tissue micro-array analysis.



    Skills required:

    Laboratory,and oral/written communication skills are required. Candidates should have the ability to work both independently and cooperatively within a team. A strong background in mouse studies and/or molecular biology is highly desirable.



    Education and Experience:

    Candidates must have a Ph.D., M.D., or M.D.-Ph.D., and reside in the U.S .
